NEWS RELEASE!

V6 Sprints Engine Change

As some people may be aware, or have noticed different sounding engines from our cars on track, It is because V6 Sprints SA has begun a trial engine program . The reason for this, has been forced upon us due to parts availability for our current V6 engines.

The engine being trialed is a Honda K24A3, with bolt on external parts. The engine will be regulated to manufacturers configuration, which means that the engine is to remain in stock form, with bolt on external parts. Internal parts are to be of OEM or equivalent, this include the crankshaft , cam shaft, pistons , con rods, bearings etc.

We are estimating that a fresh motor, (just rebuilt), will race for 5 seasons or more before requiring another rebuild.

Cars that have been involved in the developed of the engine fitment and are running the Honda for the trial for season 25/26 are;

S8 - Nick Hall :  Wrecker engine 203,000km

S36 - Brenton Phillips : Wrecker engine 160,000km - (Refreshed with new rings, bearings and gaskets).

S33 - Shaun Brown : Wrecker engine 100,000km

All cars remain fuel injected and run on Methanol. They utilize a Motec computer with a "tune" installed and locked for fuel and engine management, (variation between the engines on the dyno was 2KW ). This tune also limits all engines to a maximum rev limit of 8,250rpm.

No dyno tuning is required, as the "tune", computer program will be provided by the club. All of this equates to parity of all engines.

Replacement engine from the wreckers range from $1000 - $1500.

As part of the trial agreement, those participating in the engine change must supply a list of parts used, part numbers and part suppliers, that can be issued upon request.

Another condition of the trial is to make everything transparent, no hiding costs and every driver / team able to run identical parts.

The trial engines are eligible to win races, with exception of the State Title. Points will also be accumulated as normal but will not be counted towards end of year standings.
